One big update: IMS reversed its decision to prohibit coolers in the Snake Pit. Fans will be allowed to bring coolers + bags smaller than 18"x14"x14" inside the gates Food and beverages will be allowed through the gates. This includes water, soft drinks, beer, and wine in non-glass containers.
Flags and umbrellas are permitted through the gates, as long as they don’t obstruct views. Flags are not allowed within concert areas.
Carts and wagons are allowed every day except Indy 500 Race Day. Strollers, lawn chairs, and folding camping chairs are permitted but are not allowed in concert and VIP areas.
Smoking is not allowed in IMS grandstands. If you want to smoke, you must do so 20 ft away from buildings + seating entrances. Smoking is allowed in the IMS infield.

| 🏎️ How to get to the race With a capacity of 230,000+, you can imagine the insanity of entering and exiting the Speedway.
On Race Day, there are specific road closures + directions to help with traffic flow around IMS. Check online for all official Race Day directions and road closures. Heads up, all parking lots except for Lot 1C (located on the west end, one mile from Gate 9) are sold out. And of course, the one that’s not sold out is the farthest walk.
Pro tip: If you want to skip the hassle, there’s a round-trip, air conditioned shuttle service available for Race Day from two locations — Indianapolis International Airport + Gate Ten Events & Parking (south of Lucas Oil Stadium). It’s $50 per person for a shuttle pass.
