Civic
- The City of Beech Grove will be distributing a $2,500 stipend of federal funding from the American Rescue Plan to full-time city employees who have worked since the start of the pandemic — March 8, 2020. Elected officials will not receive the stipend. 💰 (IndyStar)
- A change of address is coming. The City of Carmel announced it's changing its numbered streets to be named after people, places + things of historical significance beginning Feb. 1 — to simplify the addresses + reduce confusion with the numbered streets. (IndyStar)
Job
- The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking to fill about 80 more positions before the new jail opens at the Community Justice Campus at the end of the year. It will hold 3,000 people + the 24/7 operation needs a full staff. To apply, visit the website. (WFYI)
Outdoors
- Indianapolis is planting 90 more acres of public green space — costing an estimated $1.8 million. The new addition is nearly three times the acreage purchased two decades ago. This will be Indy Parks’ largest annual expansion by acreage since 2001. 🌳 (IBJ)

- After a four-year hiatus, “A Beef & Boards Christmas” is ready to hit the stage once again. The dinner theatre’s two-hour holiday centerpiece is back with songs + Santas. Performances will run through Dec. 23 at 9301 Michigan Rd. 🎶 (Herald Bulletin)

- Giving Tuesday is a global movement celebrating generosity + giving back to community nonprofits the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Check out this list of Circle City nonprofits you can donate to or simply pay it forward at the coffee shop today.
Plan Ahead
- Start your engines. Tickets to Rev 2022 go on sale Dec. 1. Hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Rev is an annual event benefiting the IU Health Foundation. All funds raised are used to support IU Health trauma + critical care programs statewide. The event takes place May 7, 2022. 🏁
Seasonal
- Everything is pine. If you don’t want to go lumberjack style + cut down your own tree, you may want to get it soon. Christmas tree farms around central Indiana are experiencing a shortage. Watts Christmas Tree Farm usually has 1,000 trees, but this year it only has about 600. 🎄 (WTHR)
That’s a wrap on Thanksgiving weekend — which means holiday lights are popping up all over Indy, making Southport look a lot like Christmas with holiday lights lining the street.
